Osimhen urged Nigerian youths not to abandon their education after revealing plans to earn a university degree when his football career comes to an end.
The Super Eagles striker shared the message in a video circulating on social media, where he spoke about the importance of education despite achieving success as one of Nigeria’s biggest football stars.
Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, said life in football continues to teach him valuable lessons. Nevertheless, he still wants to return to school.

The 27-year-old said life outside the classroom shaped his character. Even so, he still wants to earn a university degree.
“As an adult, not everything I learned in school, there are some kind of life lessons, you encounter through life’s journey.”
He also said every football career eventually ends, so he wants to prepare for life after retirement.
“So for me, it’s to be an amazing thing to also try to get a degree in which I’m still considering because football you won’t play for so long, probably 20, 25 years and then you’re done.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen encouraged young Nigerians who left school because of financial hardship or personal challenges not to lose hope.
He said anyone can return to school whenever the opportunity comes. He also hopes his decision will encourage more young people to continue their education.
“So in as much as I have a lot of things to fall back to when I’m done, I think it’s still important for me to set an example, to set a standard for the younger generation that even though you dropped out due to some kind of challenges you have, it’s something you can always go back to school because the school is always there.”
Osimhen did not reveal when he plans to enrol at a university or which course he hopes to study.
