Terem Moffi’s proposed Beşiktaş move could shape the next stage of his Super Eagles career. The Nigeria striker has emerged as a transfer target for the Turkish club after OGC Nice indicated they are open to a sale, while Eric Chelle continues to assess his attacking options ahead of the new international window.
Reports in Turkey claim Beşiktaş want to strengthen their forward line this summer, with Moffi among the players on the club’s shortlist following his return to Nice from a loan spell at FC Porto.
Moffi’s future has attracted attention as Eric Chelle continues to monitor several attacking options ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
Terem Moffi Beşiktaş Move And Nigeria’s Attack
Osimhen remains Nigeria’s leading striker after another productive season at club level, while Victor Boniface, Tolu Arokodare, Sadiq Umar and Umar Sadiq are among the forwards competing for places in Chelle’s squad.
Moffi has not featured regularly since recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out for more than 300 days. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Porto, where he scored twice in 15 appearances across all competitions.
The striker previously impressed in Ligue 1 with Lorient before earning a move to Nice in January 2023. He scored 11 league goals during the 2023-24 campaign before his injury interrupted his progress.
Moffi’s Beşiktaş Move And Eric Chelle’s Selection
Chelle has continued to assess different attacking combinations since taking charge of the Super Eagles.
Osimhen remains the first-choice centre-forward, while Boniface has featured whenever available after establishing himself at Bayer Leverkusen. Arokodare has also strengthened his case following his goalscoring form in Belgium, while Moffi remains part of Nigeria’s attacking pool when fit.
A move to Beşiktaş would give Moffi the chance to compete in the Turkish Süper Lig after playing in Lithuania, Belgium, France and Portugal.
The 27-year-old has scored four goals in 19 appearances for the Super Eagles since making his senior debut against Cameroon in 2021. He was also part of Nigeria’s squad that reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after replacing the injured Boniface before the tournament.
Beşiktaş are looking to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season, with reports in Turkey identifying Moffi as one of the club’s priority targets.
