Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel wants to return to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe after an underwhelming spell with Birmingham City in the English Championship – SuperEaglesNG.com reports.
The Nigeria international enjoyed some of the best football of his career during his previous stay in Istanbul and now hopes to revive that form by rejoining the Turkish club.
Score Nigeria reports that Osayi-Samuel has already spoken with Fenerbahçe manager Ismail Kartal about a potential move. The 28-year-old also plans to leave Birmingham City on a free transfer this summer after spending just one season with the Championship club.
Fenerbahçe’s decision could hinge on the future of first-choice right-back Nelson Semedo. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender could leave after only one season of his two-year contract, with the Turkish club reportedly valuing him at between €5 million and €6 million.
Osayi-Samuel featured in 27 Championship matches for Birmingham City during the 2025/26 season and registered one assist. Although he remained a regular starter, he failed to make the impact many expected after returning to England.
The versatile full-back built a strong reputation during his first spell at Fenerbahçe, where his pace, energy and attacking runs made him one of the club’s most dependable defenders. A return would reunite him with a club where he established himself as one of the leading right-backs in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Osayi-Samuel has earned 34 caps for Nigeria and remains an important member of the Super Eagles squad. He will hope that a move back to Turkey helps him rediscover his best form ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
Transfermarkt currently values Bright Osayi-Samuel at €4 million. His availability on a free transfer could make him an attractive option for Fenerbahçe as the club weighs its plans for the right-back position.
