Fulham have entered a transition period after parting ways with manager Marco Silva, who left after five years in charge, SuperEaglesNG.com reports.
His exit followed a narrow miss in the race for European qualification, with Fulham finishing one point short in the Premier League.
Silva joined Benfica on a two-year contract with an option for an additional year. Fulham now search for a new manager while considering several candidates ahead of the new season.
Reports link former Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa to the role, while Frank Lampard also features in discussions due to his previous working relationship with Alex Iwobi at Everton. The club has not confirmed any appointment.
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi addressed the situation in an interview with talkSPORT, discussing the managerial uncertainty and the team’s response.
Iwobi said he has worked under several managers at club and international level, including Everton, and believes those experiences help him adapt quickly to any system.
He said in the talkSPORT interview: “I can only go off my experience with the national team and at Everton. I’ve had several managers there, so it won’t be difficult for me to adapt. We’ll be ready to play whoever the manager is.”
He added he enjoyed working with Frank Lampard at Everton and would welcome the chance to work with him again, while stressing that the club’s progress matters more than any appointment.
Iwobi remains under contract at Fulham until 2028 and continues to play an important role as the club prepares for a new managerial era.
