Semi Ajayi Biography
Oluwasemilogo Adesewo Ibidapo Ajayi was born on 9 November 1993 in Crayford, England, to Nigerian (Yoruba) parents, Biyi and Dayo Ajayi. His mother, Dayo, was born in the UK but returned to Nigeria, where she met Semi’s father.
He earned his nickname “Semi” at school because his full name, Oluwasemilogo (which means “The Lord has glorified me”), was difficult for classmates to pronounce.
Since his childhood, Semi’s parents have been very supportive of his interest in becoming a football player to the extent that his parents allowed his schooling to take a back seat. In fact, his father often takes Semi and his brother Fikayo to training sessions.

Semi had several siblings, such as his brothers Jay, Solomon, and Fikayo Ajayi. Jay had a professional career as an American football player for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins before retiring because of injuries.
Solomon also had the same career as an American football player for the Liberty Flames as a linebacker (LB) before being signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
His older brother, Fikayo, started as a rugby player but switched to football before injuries like a hamstring and a broken leg put a full stop to his sports career. He later pursued a scholarship in the United States and now works in New York.
Meanwhile, as for his faith, the religion of the Yorubas in Nigeria is generally Christian or Muslim. While parts of his name (Oluwasemilogo Adesewo Ibidapo Ajayi) suggest he is a Christian, others appear in both Christian and Muslim families. He has not publicly revealed his religion.
Education
Semi Ajayi attended Dartford Grammar School. He used to be a brilliant student with good grades, particularly in languages, science, and math. His parents told him the importance of maintaining good grades to continue playing football.
At age 16, Semi received a football scholarship with Charlton. He had to choose between continuing his academic path and pursuing football. He ultimately chose football, and his parents supported his decision.
Despite leaving school for football, Semi Ajayi has expressed a desire to return to his studies in the future. He enjoyed subjects like French, Spanish, mathematics, and business studies, and would like to continue them later.
