Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has spoken about his Paris Fashion Week appearance with Cardi B after their public outings fuelled romance rumours.
Okoye attended the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture show in Paris in July, where he helped Cardi B to her seat before sitting beside her. Videos from the event circulated online and led to questions about their relationship.
The pair later attended a dinner in Venice, where photographs showed them sitting together with friends.
Okoye discussed the Paris event in an interview with The Guardian, but he focused on fashion rather than the dating rumours.
“Being at the Paris fashion week was really impressive,” he said.
“It was my first time really coming into contact with high fashion, and it was fascinating. It’s a true art form. I enjoyed it immensely, and since that moment I’ve become a much bigger fan of fashion than I was before.”
Okoye did not confirm that he and Cardi B are dating during the interview.
He also spoke about keeping his football career separate from his life away from the pitch.
“What happens off the pitch is one thing, what happens on the pitch is another,” Okoye said. “You have to separate the two. I never let these two worlds collide.”
Cardi B also addressed the attention surrounding her appearances with Okoye without confirming a relationship with the Nigerian goalkeeper.
Okoye’s comments give no confirmation of a romance with Cardi B, while their appearances in Paris and Venice continue to fuel questions about the pair.
