Super Eagles striker Akor Adams scored twice and provided an assist as Venezia beat Modena 3-2 in the Coppa Italia on Saturday.
Modena took the lead through Giuseppe Ambrosino in the 17th minute, but Adams equalised for Venezia nine minutes later.
However, Ambrosino restored Modena’s lead in the 39th minute as the visitors went into half-time 2-1 ahead.
After the break, Venezia pushed for an equaliser, with Adams creating the opening for John Yeboah in the 83rd minute.
Adams saw his initial effort saved by Modena goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola, then recovered the rebound and supplied Yeboah, who headed into the net for 2-2.
Three minutes later, Adams scored again to complete Venezia’s comeback and make it 3-2.
FotMob gave Adams a 9.2 rating and named him Player of the Match. He recorded six shots, three shots on target, nine touches in the Modena penalty area and two chances created.
Adams joined Venezia from Sevilla during the summer after signing a contract until June 2030.
Before the move, Adams said: “I chose to come here because I can see the incredible project Venezia is building.”
He added: “I believe this team deserves to be in Serie A.”
Venezia will face Udinese in the next round after Udinese defeated Padova 1-0.
Adams will now prepare for Venezia’s Serie A campaign, which starts against Lecce on 23 August.
