Akor Adams has become Venezia’s most expensive signing after the Serie A club agreed a deal worth up to €23 million with Sevilla, setting a new transfer record ahead of the 2026–27 season.
The agreement represents the largest transfer investment in Venezia’s history as the newly promoted side strengthens its squad before returning to Italy’s top flight.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal is worth €16 million upfront, with €7 million in performance-related bonuses, taking the total value to €23 million.
SuperEaglesNG understands that Adams is expected to join his new teammates during the club’s pre-season preparations once the remaining formalities are completed.
Why Venezia Broke Their Transfer Record For Akor Adams
Venezia targeted Adams after identifying the Nigerian striker as the centrepiece of their attacking plans.
His performances in Spain convinced the club to make its biggest financial commitment in the transfer market. Adams scored 10 goals for Sevilla last season and earned a reputation for his strength, aerial ability and effective link-up play.
The record fee signals Venezia’s willingness to invest in proven attacking quality rather than rely solely on lower-cost additions following promotion to Serie A.
What Happens Next For Akor At Venezia
Adams now faces the challenge of adapting to Italian football and leading Venezia’s attack during the new campaign.
A productive season would strengthen his chances of becoming a regular option for the Super Eagles under Eric Chelle as Nigeria prepares for upcoming international competitions.
The move also allows the striker to establish himself in another major European league after previous spells in Norway, France and Spain.
