Lesley Ugochukwu’s proposed move to Galatasaray has put fresh attention on the growing list of Super Eagles-eligible players available to Nigeria.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Galatasaray have agreed a deal worth around €30 million (approximately ₦47 billion) with Burnley for the 22-year-old midfielder. Ugochukwu has represented France at youth level but remains eligible to play for Nigeria because he has not featured in a competitive senior international.
His situation is one of several involving dual-national players who can still represent the Super Eagles.
Lesley Ugochukwu Heads List Of Eligible Players
Ugochukwu enjoyed a strong 2025-26 campaign despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League. He scored three goals and provided two assists in 35 league appearances.
A move to Galatasaray would see him become a teammate of Victor Osimhen, while Nigeria remain able to call him up for senior international football.
Chelsea winger Tyrique George is another player eligible to represent Nigeria. The England youth international also qualifies through his Nigerian heritage and remains one of the young players linked with a possible future in the Super Eagles.
AS Monaco forward George Ilenikhena also remains eligible for Nigeria. The striker has featured for France at youth level but has not made a competitive senior appearance.
Other Players Nigeria Can Still Call Up
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo also qualifies for Nigeria. Although he has yet to make a senior international appearance for England, he remains eligible for the Super Eagles under FIFA regulations.
Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is another player with Nigerian heritage. He has represented England at youth level and has not committed his senior international future.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle continues to work with Nigeria’s current squad while remaining aware of players who are eligible for future selection. FIFA rules allow countries to call up eligible players who have not been permanently tied to another national team through competitive senior appearances.
