Stanley Bobo Nwabali was born on the 10th of June, 1996, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, into a Christian family. He is very tall, almost two metres. Nwabali, in Igbo, means “Child of the Night”. He often speaks about German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as his role model.
He plays as a goalkeeper for Chippa United, and his shirt number is 32. Before that, he played for several other teams in Nigeria and for the Super Eagles.
In the Africa Cup of Nations, he helped Nigeria reach the final in 2023, and they finished as runners-up.

The Super Eagles goalkeeper lost both parents within months. His father, Chief Godspower Onyekam Abali, a surveyor and traditional chief, died in November 2024 at the age of 72. His mother, Mrs Grace Nwabali, passed away on January 1, 2025, at 63. Both were buried in June 2025 in their village in Okwuzi, Rivers State.
It is unclear whether Stanley Nwabali has brothers or sisters. Neither Wikipedia nor news reports mention any siblings. It is either that he has none or has chosen to keep that part of his family private.

Stanley Nwabali’s education is unclear and inconsistently reported. Legit.ng states he completed secondary school at St. Gregory’s College, Lagos, and claims a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Management from the University of Lagos in 2018, though this is unverified.
Nwabali was conferred the chieftaincy title “Ugo Egbema I” (“The Pride of Egbema Kingdom”) by HRM Nzeobi Evaritus Amida of Mgbede, Rivers State, recognising his 2023 Africa Cup of Nations performance. He also received N20 million from the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State.
Football Career
His football journey began with Sharks during his youth career.
In 2018, Nwabili joined Go Round, a club based in Omoku, Nigeria. He played 17 matches there before joining Wikki Tourists, where he made 18 appearances. After that, he secured a move to Enyimba in 2020, followed by Lobi Stars, Katsina United and Chippa United, where he currently plays his football.
Stanley Nwabali signed a three‑year contract with Chippa United, keeping him at the club until 2027. As part of the deal, he was appointed captain of the South African club.
He has drawn interest from Raja Casablanca, with previous links to QPR and Al‑Ettifaq, though his agency confirmed no formal offers as of 2025. Valued at €650,000 by Chippa United, where he recently signed a three-year extension, his high price may complicate a move.
While a transfer abroad is likely, it is not imminent, with the club reportedly seeking a replacement. A move to Morocco could serve.
Super Eagles Career
Nwabili received his first call-up to play for the Nigeria national team in 2021 at an international friendly match against Mexico held at Los Angeles, United States.
In December 2023, Nwabili received his first international call-up to participate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be held in Ivory Coast.

He was voted Man of the Match at the semi-final match against South Africa for his excellent performance when he saved two penalties to win against South Africa 4-2 at a penalty shootout after both sides ended the match 1-1.
